The latest one about Scarlet Johansson’s Leaked Photos caught my attention this morning, how could it not? Not so much because a celebrity’s phone was hacked into, and not because there are now (alleged) nude photos of her floating around the internet… but because I have been wondering if she shaves, or gets the Brazilian treatment, since she was named GQ’s 2010 Babe of the Year

Shaving Is Rewarding

• Hygiene: A disheveled mass of hair can gather all sorts of unwanted things, such as lint. It can also become crusty throughout the day,
• Comfort: You probably have had your pubic hair stick uncomfortably to your underwear during a conversation. Not much you can do about it when someone is standing right in front of you.
• Pleasure: You will heighten your sexual experience along with your partners by reducing or eliminating your pubic hair. Your partner might be a little less apprehensive about taking the plunge.

Shaving For The First Time?

If you’re shaving for the first time you probably have a lot of pubic hair to remove. You can either use an electric razor like the BG2040, or a pair of sharp scissors to shorten down the pubic hair.

You’ll want the hair as short as possible when you begin to shave. (Be careful, and STAY SOBER, while you have sharp instruments around your tender bits: I had a friend who cut the tip of her clitoris because of some careless scissor action. Yeouch!)

Hot Shower

Before you begin shaving you should treat the area with a hot shower with water as hot as you comfortably tolerate. It helps if you have a hand held shower head so you can run water over the area easily, otherwise take a bath. This will soften the skin and make it easier to shave; it also reduces razor burn.

Use a Sharp Razor!

The damage that can be done using a dull razor is not worth the money you will be saving by reusing the one you used on your legs. You will know your razor is dull because you will find it harder to get a clean shave and you may also get razor burn. I have found recently that my boyfriends electric razor works as a great alternative to using a razor.

Ready. Set. Go!

Don’t be afraid to get in there and spread the flaps wide with one hand while you shave with the other. I find it easier to have one leg up on a non-slippery surface. Since pubic hair does not grow in the same direction like leg hair, you will want to angle your razor however best works for you.

I usually go over the area a couple of times in various directions to make sure I get it all. It’s the worst when you’re in that weekly meeting at work and you realize you’ve missed a hair.

Should I Use Shaving Aids?

As for shaving aids, anything you use on your legs is fine – shaving cream, shaving gel, oils, or good old fashioned soap. If you are shaving for the fist time try something mild because the skin in that area is very sensitive.

How Often Should I Shave?

The speed at which your pubic hair grows is different for everyone and this will determine how often you’ll need to shave. If, like me, you find you’re getting that five-o-clock shadow down there then you may need to shave everyday. Others have claimed to only need it once every two or three days.

In the beginning you may find it itchy, however this should dissipate as you grow more comfortable and experienced with shaving.

I shave my penis in the shower because this is where I got use to it. I find it much, much easier to shave when erect because it stretches the skin and gives me an easier surface to work with.

Use some moisturizing product before, during, and after, shaving cream works but I prefer hair conditioner. Start by going against the grain of the pubic hair, which will have you moving the razor towards the base of your shaft.

• Try using baby oil after to reduce irritation.

Lets Get Started!

If you have not trimmed your balls before, you can start with a pair of good scissors and trim it down as close as you can.

Even if you are going to be using an electric razor like the BG-2040, trimming first makes it much easier to finish.

Granted if you are doing this on a regular basis this part can be skipped, but I’m assuming that you are reading this and you are currently not shaving your balls. You might even be at the point where it looks like you are part caveman.

Going Hairless?

I have tried using a razor as well as my BG-2040, and even though I prefer it, I will explain how to shave with a razor as well.

Using A Razor

This is not the place you want to be using a used or worn out razor, it will cause irritation and make the rest of your day an uncomfortable situation.

I recommend using a 3 or 4 blade razor like the Mach 3.

Use some form of lubrication, shaving cream hides all the crevices that your balls create, instead I recommend Noxzema, or my favorite hair conditioner. Avoid any type of mentholated lubricants while shaving, it will just cause irritation since you are running a razor blade against the skin and probably removing a layer.

You have to pull the skin taunt here for 2 reasons:

1. Running a razor over your balls if it is not taunt will increase the possibility of cutting yourself dramatically,
2. Being able to cut the hairs off is much much easier.

I will typically pull my ball skin to the left or right by grabbing the middle of my sack, this gives a semi-flat surface to work with.

As I said earlier, don’t try and do it all in one session, unless you have someone else doing it for you.

Using An Electric

I recommend the BG-2040 for a few reasons, but one main reason is because of how good it works. When using an electric you want to do it dry, not wet even if it is waterproof. When used wet the hair just clumps up on the razor making it harder to cut because the hairs cannot get in the cutting grooves. I will still shave in the shower, but will be careful to keep everything dry until I am done. This also makes clean-up supper easy. Don’t try pulling this off in a gym!

If you have a clean foil on your electric razor you should not cut yourself. The only time I had cut myself is because the foil on my BG-2020 split and scratched me.
